In a highly anticipated North African derby, Al-Ahly of Egypt will host Raja Casablanca of Morocco at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday, April 22. This clash marks the first leg of the African Champions League quarterfinals and takes place on the second day of the holy month of Ramadan.

The match will kick off at 9 pm Cairo time (8 pm Rabat time, 10 pm Mecca time, 7 pm GMT) and be officiated by Sudanese referee Mahmoud Ismail. Fans can catch the live broadcast of the game on beIN Sports HD 3, the exclusive broadcaster of the African Champions League in the Middle East, with commentary by renowned sports commentator Essam El Shawaly.

At the same time, Algerian side CR Belouizdad will host Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, and fans can tune in to the live broadcast of this quarterfinal match on beIN Sports HD 6.

This will be the second consecutive season that Al-Ahly and Raja Casablanca face off in the quarterfinals of the African Champions League. The two sides met at the same stage in last year’s competition, with Al-Ahly advancing to the semifinals after winning 2-1 in Cairo and drawing 1-1 in Casablanca. Al-Ahly beat Algeria’s ES Setif in the semifinals before losing in the final to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca.

Al-Ahly will look to repeat their success in this year’s competition and compete for their eleventh African Champions League title. Meanwhile, Raja Casablanca will be seeking revenge and hoping to continue their search for their first title since 1999.

Raja Casablanca has had a strong showing in the group stage, topping their group with 16 points and the best-attacking record (17 goals) under the leadership of Tunisian coach Munther El Kadri. Al-Ahly, on the other hand, had a tougher journey to the quarterfinals, needing to wait until the sixth and final round of the group stage to secure their qualification at the expense of Sudan’s Al-Hilal. Al-Ahly finished the group stage with 10 points and the second-best attacking record (14 goals), tied with Mamelodi Sundowns.
