Instagram reaches 63 million users in the MENA region

Cairo Feb 21 – Facebook-owned photo-sharing app Instagram has revealed for the very first time that the Instagram community in the MENA region is now 63 million users.

Worldwide, Instagram reached 600 million monthly active users last December, 400 million using the platform each day and a further 150 million using Instagram Stories every day.

With such a growth, Instagram is considered one of the most preferred destinations for advertisers, worldwide, there’re 500,000 advertisers since availing ads on the platform in 2015.

“Instagram is growing at an unprecedented rate” said Jonathan Labin, Managing Director of Facebook Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan “We have doubled in size from 300 million to 600 million in the last two years alone, and today we’re revealing that 63 million people in MENA use Instagram every month – making the region one of Instagram’s fastest growing communities globally.”

Labin added, “This is good news for businesses in MENA; we know that more than 70% of Instagrammers follow a business, with 75% saying that they take action after seeing a post, from visiting a website to searching, shopping or telling a friend.

“The ability to connect with customers who are open to discovery, coupled with the size of the local community, makes Instagram one of the most important mobile advertising destinations in MENA today.”

These latest figures highlight how people in MENA have embraced Instagram to share their perspective on our diverse culture and show off their creativity. From fashion, food and photography, there are a whole host of awesome people in the region using Instagram to shine a window on their world
