Early Friday morning, US citizens awoke to large-scale internet outage via a massive DNS DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on DyN, a company that provides DNS for a number of popular websites.This resulted in the temporary take-down of several popular websites on the east coast and parts of the world. According to The Hacker news, those websites included Twitter, Etsy, Github, Soundcloud, Spotify, Heroku, Pagerduty, Shopify, Intercom, and Netflix.
The cyber-attack has impacted the US hardly, but also caused difficulties to access Twitter, Whatsapp, Soundcloud and some other services in Qatar, Ooredoo said in a tweet:
accessing these sites today. Ooredoo has fixed the problem in Qatar and service is now restored. We apologise for any inconvenience (2/2)
