McDonald’s Turns Down ‪‎McWhopper Proposal

McDonald’s declined a sandwich proposal by Burger King, the McWhopper Proposal, which would have been served on World Peace Day, Sep. 21. The initiative seeks to raise awareness of that day through peaceful collaboration between the two burger giants.

We’ve noted much public criticism of McD’s response, largely accounted for by Burger King’s impressive proposal.

Burger King was so genius by going with Mc Whopper’s proposal; it looks perfect. Fingers crossed, McD’s and the two scenarios “yes/no” lead to a great boost in Burger King’s image for the well-crafted proposal. Simply because, whatever McD’s response, Burger King will look good.

McDonald’s Response

We think McDonald’s reply was decent; they turned down the offer gently; HYG McD’s CEO replies to McWhopper Proposal:

Dear Burger King,
Inspiration for a good cause… great idea.

We love the intention but think our two brands could do something bigger to make a difference.

We commit to raising awareness worldwide; perhaps you’ll join us in a meaningful global effort.

And every day, let’s acknowledge that between us, there is simply a friendly business competition and certainly not the unequaled circumstances of the real pain and suffering of war.

We’ll be in touch.

-Steve, McDonald’s CEO
P.S. A simple phone call will do next time.”

Please tell us your thoughts about the declined #McWhopperProposal and McD’s response.
