Egypt is studying hosting the Expo 2035 in the new administrative capital, officially opening soon, officials announced.

As the world exhibition was postponed for a year due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the last edition [Expo 2020] was held in Dubai last year; Dubai was the first city in the Middle East and West Asia to host the exhibition’s activities.

It is known that the World Expo has been held since the mid-19th century, every five years, and lasts for a maximum period of 6 months.

According to Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea, the Egyptian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai has witnessed an enormous turnout. It has received more than 1.5 million visitors from various world countries.

Gamea said that the pavilion sheds light on the Egyptian civilization and the most characteristic features of the Egyptian personality throughout history, combined artistic touches and a future vision for modern Egypt, focusing on Egypt’s future and the most significant opportunities available to investors in all sectors.

The Minister added, “As part of an official competition organized by the Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the Egyptian pavilion garnered third place in the medium-sized pavilions participating in Expo 2020 Dubai”.

The next edition of the world exhibition, “Expo 2025,” will be held in the Japanese city Osaka Kansai between April 13 and October 13, 2025.

According to Saudi media newspapers, Saudi Arabia has launched a global campaign to promote its bid for hosting 2030, under the theme “Leading the Planet to a Foresighted Tomorrow,”

The BIE will be opening the window of bids for the countries that intend to host Expo 2030 until September 7. Then the BIE Member States would gather in “a General Assembly set to take place in late 2023, on the principle of one country, one vote.”
