Mohamed Omar, formerly Digital Managing Editor at Sarmady (a Vodafone company), has joined Twitter MENA as Egypt Country Consultant, he announced Friday.

Omar’s main responsibilities are to build nurturing relationships, expand Twitter’s footprint, and to develop creative strategies and approaches that scale Twitter’s reach and impact with high-profile performers, public figures, broadcasters, producers, athletes, politicians, artists, news and non-profit organizations in Egypt – According to his LinkedIn profile.
He will be reporting directly to Kinda Ibrahim, Director of Media Partnerships for the Middle East and North Africa.
Omar previously joined Sarmady – a Vodafone Company in 2013, served as FilFan.com Digital Managing Editor, where he managed to take the business to out-right leadership, and kept the business growing in terms of the user base of FilFan.com and transforming it from a dry news website to the number one interactive online entertainment portal in the Arab world in a very challenging and competitive environment.
Twitter’s recently opened Dubai office and Twitter MENA team aim to accelerate Twitter’s push for content partnerships across the news, politics, sports, TV, and entertainment verticals. The team will work with key publishers to prioritize Twitter as their first and immediate platform to reach, delight, and engage with their audience across Twitter’s live, public platforms, including Twitter, Vine, and Periscope.
