The music-streaming service Spotify went live in 13 countries across the Middle East and North Africa today, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, UAE, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Kuwait.

Spotify Premium Subscription

After users provide their credit card information, the service is offered a one-month free trial.

Afterward, the service is offered as free or premium, priced at $4.99 across all the Middle East and North African countries except Egypt at EGP49.99 and UAE at 19.99 AED.

The Spotify app is now available for download on Google Play Store and AppStore once you create an account or subscribe to premium.

Earlier this year, Spotify began hiring for some positions locally, indicating an imminent regional launch. In February, it also disclosed that it had opened its regional office in Dubai, UAE.

In September, Spotify was looking for six brands to advertise, at the cost of $200,000 each, ahead of the platform’s November launch. According to Gulf news.

Exclusive advertisers

Spotify has assigned ConnectAds as its media agency in the Middle East region. This month, the Swedish company has secured some significant advertisers ahead of its roll-out in the area. Coca-Cola, Mountain View, and other advertisers will run exclusively for the first three months.

With over 83 million paid subscribers worldwide, Spotify’s business model relies on advertising and paid subscriptions. In 2017, Spotify earned €4.1 billion in revenue.

Operating across 73 markets, Spotify continues to be unavailable in some key territories, including India, Russia, and most of Africa.
