Trees, snowflakes, snowman, and santa went missing from Starbucks Christmas plain red cups this season sparking a social media frenzy with thousands of controversial conversations coming on the hashtag #MerryChristmasStarbucks

Bad publicity?

A Facebook video was posted by Joshua Feuerstein on Nov. 5, claiming that “Starbucks removed Christmas from their cups because they hate Jesus.”
Feuerstein launched a campaign on social media calling upon followers to ask Starbucks to write “Merry Christmas” on the cups instead of writing customers’ names. His video reached 14 million views in five days.

Social media reacted quickly, but it’s not negative as it appears:

The hashtag #MerryChristmasStarbucks received around 15,000 tweets. After analyzing the stream, it is not really negative towards Starbucks, but funny and mocking the anti-campaign.

Customers launched another hashtag cheering for the new Starbucks Christmas plain red cups #StarbucksRedCups

With over 3500 photos on Instagram and 970 tweets

Instead of worrying about #StarbucksRedCups let's worry about people whose daily wage is less than what it costs to buy a Venti. #Matthew25
