Facebook Marketplace Appeals: Current Steps and a 2018 Case

Lost Facebook Marketplace access? Check the reason shown on your profile before treating an old appeal form as a guaranteed way back in.

Digital Boom first published this article in September 2018, reporting its own difficulty accessing Marketplace and a later recovery. That experience remains part of the record. Facebook’s current help pages describe several reasons for losing access, with different review options.

Check the restriction before requesting a review

Meta’s Marketplace access guidance directs users to their profile, then Profile status, and Marketplace under Extra features. Read the status and any explanation shown there.

A listing rejected under a policy is different from losing access to the whole feature. Meta says a rejected listing may be eligible for review; if it finds a mistake, it can restore that listing. Follow the option offered for the decision affecting your account.

Meta also describes an educational route for removing some first-time warnings. Removing a warning through that route does not restore the listing that was removed. The practical question is which decision you are trying to challenge.

Check eligibility if no policy issue explains it

Under Meta’s Marketplace eligibility requirements, access depends on adulthood under local law and a supported country. For the standard logged-in experience, use your main profile. New or inactive accounts and additional profiles can have different access.

These conditions are why a missing icon alone cannot establish a technical fault. Our Marketplace overview explains how the feature and its account requirements fit together.

What Digital Boom reported in 2018

The original report described attempts to contact Facebook employees about lost access. It later said that submitting an appeal led to a response and the return of Marketplace. That was Digital Boom’s reported experience, not a published service commitment from Facebook.

The screenshots below are retained from the earlier version of this article. Their filenames reference January 2019. They document the old form and response shown in that version, rather than the interface readers should expect today.

What an appeal cannot promise

The current help guidance does not promise a reply within 24 hours, one or two business days, or a week. Those conflicting time estimates have been removed from this article. It also does not establish that every unexplained loss of access comes from a system-wide glitch.

Use the review route displayed for your account and keep the explanation focused on the actual decision. If you regain access, check the applicable listing rules before posting again. Our Marketplace selling guide covers that next step, while the Facebook hub collects related account guidance.
