1. Facebook releases a teenagers app ‘Lifestage’

Facebook released a new standalone app called “Lifestage” last week targeting teenagers, in what appears to be a call for war with SnapChat.

The app is totally separate from Facebook and doesn’t require a Facebook account to register.

That actually led us to ask: is Facebook becoming an outdated platform, so the company is preparing the move to a new one? Forget it, Facebook is the strongest 🙂

For now, the new app is only available on iOS.

2. Truecaller reaches a new pre-install deal with Huawei

The deal will offer Truecaller features inside the caller app of Huawei’s phones and will be used as a directory to help users identify spam calls.

Honor 8 will be the first phone to have the new feature.

Truecaller representative told TechCrunch that the app will be pre-bundled on future Huawei phones sold across the U.S., Middle East, North Africa, South East Asia and India.

3. Twitter’s new Message button for websites

Twitter has launched a new embeddable button that can be placed on your site to allow visitors send direct messages without leaving your website.

The new feature should help businesses enhance their online customer service.

4. WhatsApp is going to share your data with Facebook and it doesn’t matter

WhatsApp will start to share your phone number with Facebook to help wit FB ads targeting.

For me, I don’t care, I think WhatsApp is already sharing all my data not just my phone number with facebook and all third parties.

5. Linkedin ProFinder is Expanding

Last October, LinkedIn began to test a new marketplace called “Profinder” to help Freelancers find jobs and finally it’s available worldwide.

The new platform will help customers find freelancers working on Design, Writing and Editing, Accounting, Real Estate, Career Coaching and more.

LinkedIn date shows the number freelancers has grown by nearly 50% in just the past five years, take a look at the most growing industries:

6. Apple is working on a new app to help users with social media posting

The tech giant is developing a video sharing and editing application and it’s testing new related features for its iPhone and iPad operating systems – Reported Bloomberg

The new Apple’s app will allow users to record video, apply filters and drawings to the media and send it to contacts or your Social Media platforms.

7. YouTube Backstage

YouTube is developing a new social media platform called “backstage” which the users will be able to share photos, links, text posts, polls and videos.

The question now: What about Google+? Will it be grandfathered as Hangout?

Saudi Startup Lendo Joins Forces with J.P. Morgan to Enhance SME Financing

Lendo, a Saudi Arabia-based Shariah-compliant crowdlending marketplace, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today with J.P. Morgan to improve access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

The MOU was signed during 24 Fintech, a premier fintech event that brings together industry leaders, innovators, and investors in Riyadh.

J.P. Morgan and Lendo are working together on potential opportunities to support the SME sector in Saudi Arabia in growing and sustaining the remarkable demand in this market.

“This strategic collaboration with J.P. Morgan, a pioneer in the financial industry, marks a significant milestone for Lendo,” said Osama Alraee, CEO and co-founder of Lendo. “By combining our strengths, we’ll deliver cutting-edge financial solutions to SMEs, supporting their growth and contributing directly to the realization of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.”

The SME financing landscape in MENA presents a substantial market opportunity as limited financial access continues to restrict the growth of the region’s businesses, with commercial banks hesitant to issue loans to SMEs at scale, resulting in a high percentage of declined financing requests annually.

The total SME financing gap in developing countries is estimated to be approximately $5.2 trillion, according to the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Lendo’s debt crowdfunding platform aims to bridge the financing gap for SMEs, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal to significantly expand SME lending from 4% in 2018 to 20% by 2030.

According to the latest available report from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the total value of debt crowdfunding in Saudi Arabia surged from SAR 1.4 million in 2019 to SAR 771 million in 2022, marking a remarkable growth.

Lendo raised SAR 132 million ($35.2 million) in total funding from leading investors, including the most recent Series B led by Sanabil Investments, a wholly-owned company by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Since its inception in December 2019, Saudi fintech Lendo has processed over 5,000 financing transactions on its platform, providing over SAR 2 billion ($600 million) in financing to SMEs and generating SAR 280 million ($74 million) in returns for investors.
