Dubai-based startup OZZ Technologies has launched a new product called OZZ, described as an ultra-secure digital contact wallet designed for both individuals and businesses. The platform allows users to store, manage, and share contact and identification data without physical cards or paperwork.
Designed for a Post-COVID Digital Shift
The product was developed during the pandemic when demand for contactless solutions surged across industries. According to founder Ahmed Wasfie, the aim was to create a unified and secure interface for exchanging personal and professional details in real-time, without compromising user privacy.
How the OZZ Digital Wallet Works
OZZ enables users to store contact information, identification documents, and social profiles in one encrypted interface. Profiles can include data from platforms such as LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Skype, TikTok, and WeChat, as well as government-issued IDs like passports and driver’s licenses.
All data is hosted on Amazon Web Services and protected with multi-layer authentication. Users can opt to hide or password-protect specific files when sharing.
Adoption Across B2C and Enterprise Markets
Initially developed for enterprise use, OZZ has since expanded to serve individual users. The company reports demand in sectors like sales, consulting, and healthcare, where employees frequently share verified information in high-volume interactions.
Enterprise clients can access analytics dashboards and brand customization features. According to OZZ, companies using the platform can reduce business card printing costs by up to 70%.
Competitive Landscape
OZZ enters a growing market for digital identity tools, where several global players already offer digital business cards and contact-sharing apps. Two notable competitors include:
- Popl (US): A digital business card solution that uses NFC technology to share profiles and contact information instantly. Popular among professionals and influencers for its ease of use and mobile integration.
- HiHello (US): A professional networking app that focuses on digital business cards, email signatures, and CRM integrations. Backed by investors including Foundry Group and Lux Capital.
Unlike its US-based competitors, OZZ places strong emphasis on document-level security, ID verification using AI, and regional availability in the Middle East and North Africa.
Local Roots, Global Positioning
The concept was partly inspired by the Dubai Paperless Strategy, a government initiative encouraging the elimination of physical documents across services. OZZ Technologies says it aligns with the broader digital transformation efforts underway in the UAE and the Gulf region.
Availability and Features
The product is currently available in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. Users can access the app with basic functionality for free, while full access requires purchasing a physical OZZ tag. The platform supports six languages, including Arabic, English, Chinese, and Russian.
OZZ Technologies is Wasfie’s third venture, following the BackPack app and digital agency AWStreams. The company is headquartered in Dubai and focuses on secure identity and data-sharing solutions for a digital-first audience.
