Jordan’s EdTech Startup ‘Abwaab’ Secures $20M in Series A

Jordanian EdTech Abwaab Secures $20M in Series A

The Jordanian EdTech and online learning platform Abwaab has successfully secured $20M in its Series A funding round.

The funding was led by existing investor BECO Capital (UAE) and joined by 4DX Ventures (USA), GSV Ventures (USA), Watar Partners (KSA) and others.

Abwaab was founded in late 2019 by Hamdi Tabbaa, Sabri Hakim, and Hussein AlSarabi. The platform offers customized content for the local curriculum serving secondary school students. Aiming to fill the gaps in educational resources available online.

Since its launch, the Jordan-based EdTech has expanded from Jordan into Egypt and Pakistan, and following a $5M seed round in March of this year.

This investment makes Abwaab among the most-funded EdTech startups across MENA that has 160M students.

That said, UAE’s Almentor, Saudi’s Jeel Platform, and Jordan’s Edunation and Abwaab received the major rounds in MENA edtech in 2021.
