Pharrell's 'Happy' in MENA: 5 Local Versions That Went Viral

When Pharrell Williams released his hit song Happy in 2014, the world responded with thousands of joyful music videos. From major cities to small towns, everyone was dancing. In the MENA region, creators and brands jumped on the trend with unique local twists — and some of them became viral sensations.

1. Kashmagi – Egypt’s Localized Version

Disalata and Scoop Empire took a creative leap by producing a fully localized Arabic version, “Kashmagi.” They gathered real-life moments from across Egypt, rewrote the lyrics, and gave it a distinct Egyptian flavor. The result? Over 700K views in just one week.

2. Omnicom Media Group’s ‘Happy Dubai’

The Dubai team at Omnicom Media Group brought workplace joy to life with their own vibrant version of Happy. Shot and produced by Streetwise Productions and directed by Amir G’Nia, the video radiates good vibes from start to finish.

3. Queen Alia Airport’s Anniversary Celebration – Amman, Jordan

To mark the first anniversary of Queen Alia International Airport’s new terminal, the Airport International Group produced a special Happy tribute. Directed by Khaled Abd Al-Jabbar and produced by Future Vision Productions, the video captures the energy of the staff and the welcoming spirit of Jordan.

4. We Are From Dahab, Egypt

This laid-back version from Dahab in South Sinai showcases the beachside town’s relaxed lifestyle, stunning sea views, and warm weather. It’s a love letter to Egypt’s coastal charm.

5. Another Egyptian Happy

Egypt couldn’t get enough of Happy in 2014 — here’s yet another fun-filled version showing smiles, dance moves, and iconic Egyptian backdrops.

Which version is your favorite? Share your pick in the comments — and if you know other creative MENA takes on Pharrell’s hit, drop us a link.
