Panadol Named Essam El-Hadary Brand Ambassador in 2018

Digital Boom reported in 2018 that Essam El-Hadary had become Panadol’s brand ambassador under a one-year agreement. The campaign brought the Egyptian goalkeeper’s sporting profile into the pain-relief brand’s consumer communications.
Digital Boom’s original report described a role that included acting as a spokesperson and taking part in brand programmes. The campaign also appears in photographer Coucla Refaat’s commercial portfolio.
A familiar sporting name
El-Hadary’s record gave the partnership its context. He had won four Africa Cup of Nations titles and helped Egypt reach the 2017 final, achievements documented in FIFA’s profile of his career.
His role in that Africa Cup of Nations campaign should not be confused with Egypt’s qualification for the 2018 World Cup. The original article incorrectly described two penalty saves as sending Egypt to a World Cup final.
An endorsement, with a clear limit
The partnership used an athlete’s story of persistence to carry a brand message. That connection explains the choice of ambassador; it does not establish that a medicine caused his sporting success or that his experience predicts another person’s treatment outcome.
Promotional statements made at the launch should be understood in that context. This historical report concerns the 2018 endorsement agreement, rather than a current partnership or a recommendation to use a medicine.

Correction, 8 September 2026: We corrected the football context and removed the erroneous claim that El-Hadary had won 156 trophies. We also removed unsupported corporate figures and wording that presented promotional health claims as established facts. The original 2018 publication date is retained.
