Wael Fakharany leaves Careem Egypt after 6 months

Wael Fakhrany left Careem Egypt after 6 months of leading the company as a Managing Director.

Careem has appointed Ramy Kato, Head of Egypt Operations to fill Fakharany’s responsibilities alongside his current position. – Reported Borsa News

Fakharany left Google after nine years of leadership positions in Egypt and MEA.

Why Did Wael Fakharany Leave Careem?

In a press release; Careem explained the reason why Fakharany left Careem saying “There are times when a great mind in a great role at a great business does not necessarily make a great fit, and as such, effective March 1st, Rami Kato has assumed the position of Managing Director of Careem Egypt. With our new management at the helm, we are excited about our future in Egypt.”

On the other side, Wael Fakharany posted a tweet Monday morning in response to Careem’s press release, stating that he didn’t resign but was fired in a humiliating way, i feel oppressed but i’m sure that i’ll claim my right.

لم استقيل من كريم و لكن تم طردى من الشركة بطريقه مهينه و مفاجئه. يعلم اللة مدي المجهود اللي عملته. انا مقهور و لكن متأكد أن حقي هيرجعلي !

Kato comes to Careem with 21 years of experience in operations, care, general management and business development. He has worked in various industries, from the energy sector where he worked with Exxon-Mobile to the telecommunications industry, where he spent most of his career working with Vodafone and Orascom Telecom.
