Hello World Kids, ed-tech startup raises pre-series A

Hello World Kids, a Jordanian Ed-Tech company, has raised an undisclosed pre-Series A funding round. Vision Ventures participated in the round led by Daam Almonsha’at Holding and Oman Technology Fund (OTF).

Founded in 2015 by Hanan Khader, Hello World Kids is the first educational organization specializing in teaching Computer & Mobile Programming for children between 6 to 12. The online tutoring platform offers a unique and fun coding education for kids at home.

In 2020, the company launched HelloCode, an interactive online platform that offers a programming curriculum for schools. Believing in, “Writing code is not just about writing a language that the computer understands; coding is a mental process that involves analytical thinking, problem-solving and creativity. It teaches patience, determination, commitment, and communication. The founder & CEO Hanan Khader concluded that these skills are necessary to build up a successful life”,

The Edtech sector is slowly becoming one of the most growing industries within the MENA VC ecosystem. The industry also grabbed the attention of both consumers and investors with the onset of the pandemic.

Funding in MENA-based EdTech startups has grown by 525% since 2018, raising stellar rounds in 2021 YTD across geographies. One of the top EdTech players this year is the Jordan-based Abwaab. It succeeded in raising $20M from the likes of BECO Capital following its acquisition of Pakistan-based counterpart Ed-matrix.

The current funding round aims to accelerate Hello World Kids’ expansion into the Saudi market. In addition to Saudi Arabia, the startup will use the newly raised funds to expand into Egypt and Pakistan.
