Cairo, Egypt, March 29, 2016 – Uber, the leading smartphone technology company that connects riders to drivers at the push of a button, and Education for Employment Egypt (EFE|Egypt) today announce the graduation of 14 partners from its inaugural Uber Partner-Driver Training Program; a program intended to equip aspiring individuals with the skills necessary to succeed as partner-drivers on the technology platform.

The training comes as part of the Uber Economic Empowerment Program which provides education, capacity building and resources for drivers, and includes this partnership with EFE|Egypt in addition to a vehicle financing deal with BPE Capital that will provide drivers with affordable financing solutions to obtaining vehicles that meet Uber standards.

Covering the most important learning fields, EFE|Egypt’s program includes topics ranging from professional customer service, dealing with difficult customers and situations to local geography, basic English literacy, anti-harassment training, city knowledge, and digital literacy. Upon program completion, participants must excel in two tests to become official Uber partners.

Uber has a long-term commitment to creating tens of thousands of jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities. Since launching in Cairo, the Uber technology platform has created work opportunities for over 2000 drivers a month. Over 40% of the drivers had been unemployed prior to joining Uber.
